Unlike other patches with salicylic acid, this over-the-counter drug has 2% salicylic acid designed to deeply penetrate skin and act fast.
You can keep the patch on for as long as it takes for the patch to turn opaque, which is a sign that it has absorbed exudate from the pimple. This typically takes anywhere from a few hours to a full night. Do not exceed 24 hours with the same patch.
After removing the patch, gently cleanse the area with a mild cleanser. You can then proceed with your regular skincare routine. Avoid using abrasive scrubs or harsh chemicals immediately after removal.
A mild redness around the treated area can occur, particularly in those with sensitive skin, but this should diminish shortly. Persistent redness or irritation should be taken seriously, and discontinuing use and consulting a skincare professional is recommended if symptoms continue.
